The first issue of History of Photography (HP) is dated January, 1977. A quarterly publication, devoted to serious aspects of photographic history, HP is published by Taylor & Francis, Ltd. of London England and Washington DC.
I bought the first seven issues back in 1977 and 78 at a local gallery in the Yorkville area of Toronto. Nowadays, it is available by subscription only If you want to subscribe, contact the publishers using the information on this page.
Issue 20-2, Summer 1996 features Canadian Photography with guest editor Joan M. Schwartz, Chief of Photography Acquisition and Research at the National Archives of Canada, in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. Three of the essays in this special issue were written by members of the Photographic Historical Society of Canada (Graham W. Garrett, Robert G. Wilson, and Tiit Kõdar).
