Stan White is well known throughout North America for his work in stereo imagery. He has presented stereo shows in England, France and Switzerland. His background includes commercial photography and teaching at Sheridan College, Oakville campus. He is past editor of the stereo journal of the PSA and has published articles in Stereo World and Photographic Canadiana.
Stan presented a 170 slide retrospective of his 1980's work, including some images never shown before (experimental and tabletop set-ups). Many of the slides were submitted to PSA stereo exhibitions. Stereo glasses were provided by Mr White.

Professional photographer and Ryerson graduate Larry O'Grady heads the Photo section of Toronto Police Services. Larry will speak on the history of using photography in the TPS and its applications in forensics as the department moved from 4 x 5 to 120 and 35mm and now on to digital.

Robert Burley teaches at Ryerson's School of Image Arts. His photographic work is widely collected and published internationally. Tonight's talk will touch on his current project - documenting the disappearing industrial infrastructure that once supported traditional photographic products, especially the former Kodak Canada plant and offices.
He will also discuss the flurry of recent photographic history activities at Ryerson including the new graduate program in Photographic Preservation & Collections Management (co-hosted with George Eastman House in Rochester), and the acquisition of photographic collections including the Kodak Canada Archive & Camera Collection, the Black Star Photography Collection, and a number of library collections (Graver, Spira, Mitchell).

Wayne Morgan has been fascinated by Palmer Cox, the Brownies and Kodak's famous Brownie cameras for many years and tonight he will share his wealth of knowledge with us. Drop by and learn about Palmer Cox and the cameras that shaped your interests in photography. Note: Our original notice emphasized the camera; however, Mr Morgan's talk covered the broader social culture of the times and the naming of the Brownie camera in that context.

Gerald Loban

Gerry Loban has been a keen amateur photographer for over 60 years. He operated a portrait studio in the early 1960s and for five years in the 1970s he ran a part time business at festivals and malls taking instant antique photos complete with backgrounds and costumes. He will speak on the history of such enterprises, and the technique and operation of an "Old-Time Photo" studio.
